Teacher
This webquest was built as part of the eMINTS program (enhancing Missouri's Instructional Networked Teaching Strategies) and was made by a student in this program.
This lesson was designed to help students understand the importance of surveys and how to use an oral presentation to persuade their audience. It teaches them what kind or surveys are out there and how they can help them in gathering data. In the process of this webquest the students will complete the following tasks: create a candy box, survey the consumers and make an oral presentation persuading the owner of the candy company to pick their design.
Learners
This lesson is focused towards a fourth grade lesson about data and probability in mathematics. It also incorporates oral presentations and creativity and arts. This lesson could be used in different sections of math and language arts depending on what you want to do. For example you could make it into measuring by having them do exact measurements and angles for the box.
Prior to this lesson you may want to make sure the children know how to differentiate between websites that are true and ones that do not have correct facts. They may also need to know how to be persuasive because they need to write a speech to persuade the owner of the company.
